Indications/Uses
Prevention or treatment of chemotherapy- or radiotherapy-induced nausea & vomiting.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Prevention of feeling or being sick Give 1st dose 1 hr before radio- or chemotherapy. 1 or 2 mg once daily for up to a wk after radio- or chemotherapy. Treatment of feeling or being sick 1 or 2 mg once daily; may be increased up to nine 1 mg tab a day.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Problems w/ bowel movements; heart problems; concomitant use w/ a medicine that is known to damage the heart; electrolyte abnormalities; concomitant use w/ other serotonin receptor antagonist. Life-threatening serotonin syndrome.
Adverse Reactions
Anaphylaxis. Headache, constipation. Insomnia, abnormal liver blood tests, diarrhea.
Drug Interactions
Medicines used to treat an irregular heartbeat, other serotonin receptor antagonist (eg, dolasetron or ondansetron), phenobarb, ketoconazole, erythromycin.
